The Fellowship of the Arid Plain film is a 30 minute documentation of the areas in the Texas Panhandle used to create the field recording album of the same name by artist/musician Sarah Ruth Alexander, utilizing the album as a score. The film was made by partner Stephen Lucas compiling footage and photography Alexander has taken on visits to her birthplace over the years. This seemingly barren landscape is enlivened by Alexander’s field recordings of insects, cattle, an ocean of wind and the friends and instruments she brought with her. Alexander’s album celebrates her childhood homeplace in all its brutal nuanced beauty and her film provides a glimpse into the stark poetry of the landscape.
